No walls, no concrete!
"No walls, no concrete" was part of our motto at last year's Serendubity festival. This year we're looking forward to "Mauermenschen", a theater performance by the Junges Ensemble Circus Schatzinsel, which talks about walls, borders and the stories behind them. The Berlin Wall was the backdrop for their first performance; since then the group has been traveling around festivals, sharing the stories they collected in many conversations and breaking the borders between music, theater and artistic performance!
"Mauermenschen" - Circus Theater / Physical Theater
The project achieves emotional depth through individual conversations of the 17 actors with contemporary witnesses of the Wall. The witnesses, men and women from the former eastern and western parts of Germany, are of different age and social status, and lived within Berlin or Brandenburg. Both sides speak about their individual experiences and fears, listen and get to know each other, thereby bringing into context the similarities and differences between their stories. The young actors explore the stage with movement-, object-, performance- and dance theater, as well as with self-created and performed live music and modern artistic.
Actor, puppeteer and painter, Pierre Filliez will be presenting two unique performances at the festival!
My Sunshine (Mein Sonnenschein) with Jessica Nicholls - Commedia dell'arte
Commedia dell'arte is a form of theatre characterized through masked figures, which originated in Italy during the 16th century as a reply to the political and economic crisis. Based on sketches and scenario, the performers experiment in poetry and improvisation. A poetry competition is announced by the old Pantalone in order to win his daughter's hand in marriage. But who will win, and how?
